Now, they are a stylish piece of clothing reminiscent of days gone by for both men and women.
LIGHTWEIGHT AND WARM: This is the most famous style in Aran knitting and can be worn by both men and women. Warmth is the key to this style and it's sure not to let you down, thanks to the 100% wool material. Irish knitwear from Aran Crafts is designed and created using traditional Aran stitches to bring you authentic Irish clothing for any occasion.
STITCHING VARIETY: This lightweight sweater incorporates a variety of Aran stitches believed to bring luck, success, and health to the wearer. Honeycomb stitches represent the hard-working honey bee, the diamond is said to bring wealth, and basket stitches bring good luck. Each stitch pattern has their own history and the use of Traditional Irish Stitches throughout our garments ensures we keep our long-treasured legacy of Irish craft alive.
WEAR THE TRADITION: This stylish piece of clothing is reminiscent of days gone by, believed to bring luck, success, and health to the wearer. Aran Crafts tells a story of a long-treasured history of traditional Irish craft embedded in each stitch and fiber. Appreciate the craftsmanship and pride in every piece. We put in the time, effort, and detail to make sure we deliver a quality product.
BEAUTIFUL & COMFORTABLE: Made from the highest quality Merino Wool, this stylish garment is the perfect way to wear a piece of Ireland wherever you go. Customers around the world appreciate the workmanship, technique, and hand detail that is stitched in every piece. No need to sacrifice beauty or comfort when choosing one of our designs. With great design and comfort, this stylish authentic garment will keep you warm and fashionable all year round.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Do not machine wash. To best care for your woolen garment, we recommend hand washing in cold water in a sink or basin. Soak for 5 to 10 minutes with wool detergent, gently squeeze the suds out (do not rub, twist, or wring), and rinse in clear, cold water. Pull carefully to shape. Always dry flat and never put in a tumble drier. The Golden Rule for caring for a wool garment is to wash it as seldom as possible and air frequently.
these are amazing sweaters. super warm, breathable, realatively lightweight, well-made, classic, reasonably priced for the quality. i have the charcoal and the ecru. the charcoal is a rich dark grey that is close to black but the slightly lighter threads make the cable knit details pop. the ecru is obviously a lighter color that i'll probably use for contrast with a darker outer layer.i don't know what else one could ask for in a wool sweater than what Aran Crafts has put together here. the sweater isn't super-bulky but it doesn't seem like any stitches were wasted. it's on the medium side of things in the thickness scale. it's versatile enough to be an outer or mid layer, and has the merino quality of temperature regulation. because it's merino, it doesn't feel too scratchy against bare skin like some other types of wool.this sweater can easily compare in quality to others costing 2 or even 3 times as much. you probably wont find a better-made merino sweater anywhere. it's thick enough to be effective in winter, but breathable enough to work in spring or fall. by itself it can handle temps in the 50s or even 40s with a long sleeve t under. if you use it as a mid layer, you can weather much colder temps, depending on your outer layer. the style is classic and soemwhat understated. not trendy, just essential.
