I bought this to replace an IKEA headboard that went with the bed frame I bought there. I don’t like attaching the headboard to the bed frame because it becomes too difficult to move for cleaning, especially since the bed frame has drawers, making it very heavy with clothes stored in them .The IKEA headboard was too frustrating because it stood on only one side, on one piece of wood attached to the front of the headboard. For that reason, it did not stand alone and would topple over unless it was attached to the bed frame or stayed sandwiched between the wall and bed frame. Because the base had no sides, it became a perfect hideaway for my cats that constantly left fur and hairballs under it all the time. It was very difficult to clean under there without moving the bed and dealing with it toppling over. It also chipped quite a bit over time, so I decided it was time to replace it.Enter this headboard that this 66 year old woman put together in no time at all. Parts were in good shape, clearly labeled and easy to assemble. It stands alone, so I can now move the bed for cleaning without it toppling over. My cats disagree, but the best thing is that they can no longer go under the headboard and leave their mess!I love the clean look and the placement of the shelves. In case you’re wondering, as I was, you can choose what side of the headboard you want the little cubby during assembly. Very happy with the new look of my bed!
